I'm interested in studying spanish in spain. I would like information on spanish language schools in spain.
I would like to hear from people who have lived in spain or have studied abroad in spain.
Also It would be nice to hear from local spanish people.
The best thing to do if you want to study Spanish in Spain is to go to your local college's foreign language department and see what programs will take you where in Spain.

When I went to Seville for a Semester in Spain stint in the fall of 1988, it cost me $3,000, which included air fare, tuition, room and board, and miscellaneous expenses. It was a good experience, even though I did have bouts of homesickness, a bad cold, and a couple of minor hassles related to my return trip.

You should look on the Internet for any reference to the College Consortium for International Studies (CCIS). They ran the program I participated in.

If you do go, you'll love it...as long as you go with an open mind and a positive outlook.

Is the Spanish taught in high school usually from Latin America or Spain?
I am using Rosetta Stone and I have the option of learning Spanish (Latin America) or Spanish (Spain). As I know some Spanish from high school, I would like to go off whatever I learned there. Any idea what is USUALLY taught in high school?
Most high schools teach the Latin American version of Spanish according to my Spanish teacher.. Even if you did learn Spain's way of speaking spanish I would still learn the Latin American way because it's more widely used in America. If you did need to learn Spain's way it wouldn't take that much effort because there are only a few differences in it. I think it's like the difference between American English and British English.
Do all public schools in Spain instruct in Castilian Spanish?
I'm going to a high school in Valencia and was just wondering, because I know that Catalan is spoken in Valencia as well.
The School's policy document says, (Please excuse the translator)

"IV .- PLAN Language Standardisation

On this point we must bear in mind that the Centre where we are, is historically and culturally speaking Castilian zone and therefore the Centre has benefited from the program and thus phasing for the incorporation of Valencian as a second language, is part of the following considerations.

- The evolutionary stage ranging from 4 to 8 years is of great plasticity and responsiveness and is therefore the optimal time to acquire a second language at a time to be mature in the first competition. So will the guy in contact with Valencia from the start.

- The education of these guyren Valencian speakers will gradually and progressively building on communication and speaking.

- Avoid at all times the translation and to achieve a satisfactory level of understanding is essential to the use of visual media.

- The school will accommodate every guy in their own language and be provided with the means to progressively strengthen equal power? of the two languages so that they integrate fully into the cultural fabric of Valencia.

In regard to administrative space, little by little, the center will be providing a documentary in bilingual format within which include calls for: Faculty, School Board, cycle equipment, meetings with parents ... With this, we within the space of interaction with the environment and that little by little will increase the level of information available to parents Valencia.

To cut a long, short, story. It looks like education is in Spanish, and Valenciano is taught as a second language.
