Why do guys have so much success as amateur boxers and then suck *** when they become professionals? guys like Audley Harrison, who are so good as amateur but suck as pros. |
| some guys just don't adapt to the professional game.Audley Harrison had all the tools to be a heavyweight champion. He was big, tall, decent speed for a heavyweight,a south paw and a excellent jab but he never had the heart and just couldn't adapt to professional boxing |
Ok guys I have trouble knocking guys out in amateur boxing.. does this mean I will be a feather fist as a pro? My dad says it because of the head gear and 15 oz gloves but I have a bad felling im won't knock any out as a pro. How can I start knocking my pears out in my gym. |
| Thomas Hearns had a very low KO percentage as an amateur as Diesel said, but as a pro was one of the hardest punchers of all time. As an amateur you have headgear, larger gloves, and you fight shorter and fewer rounds. I remember when I trained as an amateur very few of the lads had a high KO percentage, one of the best at the club had only one KO in his first 15 fights, some didn't have any. Its very hard to KO someone when you have large gloves and they have headgear. If you turn pro it will be a different ball game, however it wouldn't hurt to practice your punching technique etc. Even if you aren't a big KO puncher don't worry, many champions have been light punchers but they get by on boxing skill. |
Is there a professional Wrestling circuit for guys that want to continue their amateur or collegiate career? Other than the WWE type of wrestling is there a professional circuit they could be in?
Is the olympics as far as they possibly can go before changing to something else? |
there's something called Real Pro Wrestling. They have teams that represent cities like other pro leagues.
That's all I know of it and they have a good Wikipedia article.
Check out some more of it |
Guys do you remember that amateur boxing tournament I was telling you about? I was humbly defeated in the second round by a guy with 70 fights. Fortunately I was not hurt nor knocked out. lost a 4 round UD. |
The second round of the tourney, eh? At least you got that far in the tournament.
70 fights? That is a lot considering the amount of fights you have (if I remember correctly, 40 or so?) But still you held your own (well, as best as you could).
Go back in the gym, train harder, and BAM! Future Golden Gloves champ before you know it. Don't give up, even though a loss can make one think about it in a heartbeat. |
Would you guys pay for getting photographs taken by a good, but amateur photographer who use digital camera? for a inexpensive rate?
if the samples are good quality and artistic. |
I know of many "amateur" photographers who can produce better work then established pros.
One definition of amateur is - a person who engages in a study, sport, or other activity for pleasure rather than for financial benefit or professional reasons.
So yes, if the "amateur" produced good work then why not pay them. |
Guys, have you ever gone to watch an amateur contest at a strip club? What did you think of the contestants? |
I know I'm not a guy but I'll put in my two cents anyway ; )
I teach pole dance and one of my students did an amateur night at a local club. She wasn't fat but she had a couple of guys so she was a little fleshy so I was worried for her. Most of the dancers were fat. One was VERY fat, so fat her boobs were down to her waist and she left her top down around her stomach because she was so freakin fat. A few were smokin and one you could tell either had been or was a current dancer becuase she had the strippery clothes on and had no shame whatsoever about dancing nude.
All in all it was mildly entertaining. I thought the girls that did well were hot, otherwise it was just embarrasing. And I felt bad for my student because they didn't even let them use the pole, they just had to flop around naked on stage. |
What do you guys think of my amateur boxing match (youtube link)? Hi guys, this is my third amateur boxing bout.

| You both fought well. But i think you let your opponent get in to close therefore maybe you should focus more on using your jab to keep him at bay. Use your straight as your power shot don't go for hooks considering your like a foot taller than him lolz. And move and dodge. Be quicker on your feet. A good fight by two talented young boxers. |
Why do so many Polish guys go for the amateur bodybuilder look? Why do they all go for this look.? is it part of Polish culture.? |
| they're grunts |
Since I'm an amateur YuGiOh player, I was just wondering what kind of deck you guys think I should play with? I just got into YuGiOh a little whiles back and I've missed a lot, and the tournaments I've been too with my old deck I've lost every single game except one. So I was just wondering what should I do, like Blackwing or Lightworn, etc. Thanks a lot! |
Well, you admit your an amateur, I'm not gonna insult you for that, but the best deck nowadays are:
Lightsworns
Blackwing
Gladiator Beast
Twilight
Zombie World
